The Country Roads Farmers Market opened on Saturday, May 10, at Valley Park in Hurricane. The market is open each Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. until the end of October.

The market offers seasonal produce, meat, eggs, artisan works and home-produced baked goods, jams, jellies, soaps, herbs and more — all produced in the local area.

Offerings for May 10th included herbs, eggs, Swiss chard, lettuce, green onions, bok choy, pepperoni rolls, oatmeal cream pies, peanut butter cookies, and white bread.

Plants for home gardeners included elderberry, raspberry, blackberry, grape, gooseberry, blueberry, asparagus, horse radish, rhubarb, strawberry, celery, kale, kohlrabi, chard, okra, cauliflower, Brussels sprouts, watermelon, zucchini, yellow squash, cucumber, tomato, and pepper plants.

Opening day vendors included Crago Country Farm, Dunlap Ridge Crafts, Grammy’s Garden Goodies, and Hunts Farm.
