I Peter 2:11-12, 3:13-17, 4:7-11, 5:8-10

“Dearly beloved . . .” The beloved whom Peter addresses were believers dwelling in the northern portion of Asia Minor. In preceding verses, Peter declared this audience to be a chosen generation which, in former times, was not a people. This description fits Gentile believers who were natives of the area.
