CHARLES R. ASBURY
Charles R. Asbury, 97, of Red House, passed away Thursday, February 19 2026, at Hubbard Hospice House following a long illness. Charles retired from Monsanto Plant Nitro with 37 years of service. After retirement Charles enjoyed camping and fishing with his 2 grandsons. Charles could always be found outside doing something. He loved working in his garden. He had an unsurpassed mechanical ability to fix or repair anything. Charles was always willing to lend a hand if his family or friends needed help with something.
Born September 24,1928, he was the son of the late Erma Withrow. In addition to his mother he was preceded in death by his wife of 78 years, Reba S. Asbury, and sister, Margaret Thomas.
Survivors include his son Charlie (Linda) Asbury of Red House; grandchildren, Eric (Paula) Asbury and Chad Asbury; great grandchildren, Natalie (Eric) Craig, Blake Asbury (Ashley) and Jacob Shamblin; great great grandchildren, Landon, Holley and Adalynn.
Funeral service was Monday, February 23, 2026, at Raynes Funeral Home, Eleanor, with Pastor Woody Willard officiating. Entombment was in Haven of Rest Memory Gardens, Red House.

ROSEMARY DUNN COOK
Rosemary Dunn Cook, of Culloden, went to be with the Lord on February 20, 2026, at her home, following a courageous journey with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS).
Rosemary was born in South Charleston, the daughter of Eugene D. and Mary N. Dunn. She grew up in St. Albans where she attended local schools. A 1973 graduate of St. Albans High School, she went on to attend West Virginia University, graduating in 1977 with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. Additionally, she attended West Virginia State College, earning a Bachelor of Science in Education on in 1982, and West Virginia College of Graduate Studies, where in 1985 she completed a Master of Arts in Psychology and a Certificate of Advanced Study.
Rosemary moved to Hamlin in 1982 where she met and married her husband of 42 years, Steven M. Cook. Together they lived in Hamlin, later moving to Culloden, where they raised their two daughters, Leigh Allison and Blair Katherine. A nurturing and caring mother, she devoted herself to creating a warm home where her family always felt supported and loved. Signs of her love were woven into everyday moments and made tangible by sweet treats, elaborate handmade costumes, long poolside chats, hearty laughter at a well-timed joke, and the simple delight she found in her family’s presence.
Her faith in Christ was central to her life, and she found great joy in worshiping and serving at Forrest Burdette Memorial Methodist Church in Hurricane. She treasured time spent with her dearest friend, Phyllis Carper Dorsey, who was like a sister to her. She also loved WVU sporting events (except when they lost), a monthly book club, tending to her garden, traveling, and visiting the Outer Banks of NC. She deeply valued the many friendships she formed through her church, her community, and her professional life.
As her daughters married and started their own families, Allison with Zach Smith of Wheeling, and Katie with Elliott Giles of Burbank, California, she warmly embraced her new family members and cherished her role as “Gram” to Sutton and Bennet Smith and to Addy and Landon Giles. She especially enjoyed Christmas with her grandchildren, thoughtfully selecting presents, baking endless batches of cookies, and handcraeing special stockings for each grandchild.
She worked as an elementary teacher in Lincoln County from 1979 to 1985, as a school psychologist in Cabell County from 1986 to 2005, and with the West Virginia Department of Education Office of Special Education from 2005 until her retirement in 2010. She is preceded in death by her parents Eugene D. and Mary N. Dunn of Sutton, and brother, Daniel K. Dunn of Culloden.
The visitation will be held Saturday, February 28 at 10:30 AM at Forrest Burdette Memorial Methodist Church. The memorial service will be held Saturday, February 28 at 12:00 PM at Forrest Burdette Memorial Methodist Church.

CARLA GAYE MCGRAW
Carla Gaye (Smith) McGraw ,54, of Scott Depot, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 22, 2026.
She was born on November 23, 1971, to the late Buddy and Ollie Mae (Robertson) Smith of Chattaroy, WV. She was a graduate of Williamson High School and WV State University.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her dearly loved brother, Gregory Smith of Chattaroy; father-in-law, Gary Willard McGraw of Logan; beloved uncles: Henry Robinson and A.P. Robinson of Williamson; and beloved aunts: Exer Rebecca Norman of Circleville, Ohio and Carolyn Lockard of Forest Hills, KY.
Carla is survived by her husband of 27 years, Gary “Lee” McGraw of Scott Depot; mother-in-law, Norma (Nash) McGraw of Logan; sister-in-law, Marcia (Mike) Chase of Pikeville, NC; brother-in-law, Steven (Clintina) McGraw of Hurricane; uncle, Lowry (Marlene) Robertson of Geneva, OH; aunt, Betty Robinson of Williamson; as well as many other loved ones (cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.)
Throughout her life, Carla set an example of self-sacrificial, dependable service to others. She was a devoted wife, loving daughter, loyal friend, and kind neighbor. She faced life’s difficult challenges and sorrows with courage, grace, and faith. She was always there to listen and to encourage her friends and family. She attended church at Mill Creek with her mother-in-law.
Carla loved being outdoors, gardening, and crocheting beautiful gifts for those she loved. She was funny and feisty, compassionate and supportive, a true treasure. She was one of God’s best gifts to her family. Her memory will forever inspire all who knew her.
In accordance with Carla’s wishes, there will be no services.

EVA W. MILLER
Eva W. Miller, 98, of Hurricane, passed away on February 15, 2026 at her home surrounded by her family.
She was born to the late Ralph and Anna Irene Snead on December 19, 1927 in Charleston. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death recently by her husband, Charles W. Miller; sister, Mabel Winfree; brothers: Thomas and James Winfree; and son in-law, David Gray.
Eva was retired from RL Laughlin and Co as a Chart Processor and was a member of the former Kanawha Valley Ramblers Camping Club.
She was survived by her daughters: Kimberly (Michael) Perraut and Deborah Gray; granddaughter, Megan (Colton Whittington) Perraut; and great grandchildren: Blake and Myles Whittington; as well as other family members and friends.
Funeral service for Eva was Thursday, February 19, 2026, at Chapman Funeral Home, Hurricane, with Pastor Barrett Jordan officiating. Burial was in Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans.

CAROLYN SUE VINEYARD
Carolyn Sue Vineyard, 85, of Hurricane, passed away peacefully on February 14, 2026 at Hubbard Hospice House in Charleston.
Sue was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a longtime member of Mount Vernon Baptist Church in Hurricane where she found deep spiritual fulfillment and community.
Sue was a dedicated homemaker who cherished family above all. She was married to her husband, Jon Vineyard, for 53 wonderful years until his passing. In addition to her husband, Sue was preceded in death by her parents: Harry D. and R. Edith King; and her grandson, Jon Matthew Gunter.
Sue found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She loved camping and boating, trips to the beach, playing games with friends and family, reading, and working on jigsaw puzzles. Her warm spirit and love for gathering with loved ones created countless cherished memories.
She is survived by her three daughters: Beth Gunter, Susan Johnson (Brian), and Melissa Northup (Zac); grandchildren: Morgan Hudnall (Chad), Kassie Slattery (Michael), Brett Johnson (Kassandra), Alex Northup (Ashley), Sophie Northup, and Meredith Northup; as well as four great-grandchildren.
Sue’s family will honor her in a private Graveside Service at Mount Vernon Cemetery in Hurricane.

MICHAEL ALAN WADE
Michael Alan “Mike” Wade, 65, of Hometown, passed away Saturday, February 21, 2026, at the home of his daughter, surrounded by those he loved.
Mike was born December 28, 1960, in Charleston, to the late Joe and Marilyn Wade. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Rebecca Wade.
Mike retired from Tri-State Gaming Center after many years of dedicated service. He enjoyed the simple pleasures in life—playing cards with his friends, tossing horseshoes on a warm afternoon, and most of all, spending time with his grandbabies. His laughter, steady presence, and love for his family will be deeply missed.
He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Sandy Wade; his children, Kenneth Wade, Joseph Wade, Kari (Mathew Dixon) Wade, and Bethany (Jeremy Jeffers) Blankenship; his cherished grandchildren, Devon Blankenship, Lani Blankenship, Brooklyn Blankenship, and Amelia Jeffers; his sister, Stacy Wade Ritchie; his niece, Morgan Wade; and his brother-in-law, Richard (Cathy Lynch) Lester.
Burial was in Haven of Rest Memory Gardens.

DWIGHT DAVID ‘IKE’ YOUNG
Dwight David “Ike” Young, 73, of Milton, passed away on February 15, 2026.
He was born on November 10, 1952, to the late Stanley and Nellie Garrett Young. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brother, Rod Young; sister, Ruth Ann Young and sister in-law, Coletta Young.
Ike was a retired General Contractor and “Pappy” who enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, spreading his renowned sense of humor while cracking jokes.
He is survived by his son, Dwight “Bruno” Young Jr. (Sheena) of Hurrican; daughter, Jessica Santrock of Hurricane; grandchildren: Jace, Sophie, Ella, Harper, Isaiah and Solomon; brother, Stan Young of Hamlin; and sister in-law, Barbara Young of Culloden; as well as other family members and friends.
Ike was cremated and buried with a private family service at Mount Moriah Baptist Cemetery in Hurricane.
