Motorists seeking to access the Buffalo Bridge from State Route 817 will need to find a new route beginning today (April 9). Northbound traffic on WV 817 must use either Hurricane Creek Road or Putnam Business Park Drive to reach U.S. 35, proceed north to WV 869 and turn right (WV 869 terminates at its junction with State Route 62 on the north side of the Kanawha). Southbound 817 traffic must use Plantation Road (CR 9) to access U.S. 35, proceed to WV 869 and turn left.

Direct access to WV 869 and the Buffalo Bridge from State Route 817 will be restored when the construction project to eliminate the curve on the 869 approach to the bridge is complete. Traffic delays can be expected. The construction has an end of September completion target date.
