The Putnam County Senior Games event was held at the Winfield Baptist Church on April 14, 2026. The 3 senior centers in the county competed against each other for the traveling Gold, Silver and Bronze trophies. In this year’s games, there were 5 seniors that were 90 or older participating in the event. This was the first year of having the event at the Winfield Baptist Church. The accommodations and staff were exceptional. Additionally, this year, Bryan Ungar of WV Senior Benefit Services, sponsored the event. He stated that he was so impressed with the event last year when he worked the event on behalf of Aetna, he wanted to be a part of this event on an ongoing basis, as it energized the seniors and seemed to spark the competitive side which he did not anticipate. Furthermore, his goal when working with seniors is to keep them moving, which events like this certainly encourage. The MVP Winners this year were Imogene Arthur (Hometown), Delbert Whitt (Hurricane) and Connie Reddington (Buffalo). Anyone interested in more information about these games or the Olympics coming up June 16-19, 2026 in Keyser WV, please contact Karen Johnson (304-755-2385).
