District Governor Installs Putnam Lions Club Officers

Lions Club District Governor Kim Ebert journeyed from Fairmont to install officers at the Putnam County Lions Club dinner meeting on June 15th.

The District Governor employed a mixture of solemnity and playfulness by enjoining board members to fulfill their duties, then presenting them with appropriately-named candy bars: First Vice President Larry Frye, whose position is betwixt and between, a Twix Bar; Treasurer Randy Eddy, obviously, a Payday; Immediate Past President Trudy Oliver, who can now relax a little, an Almond Joy; and for President Linda Bush in the top job, a King-sized Hershey Bar.

Vacations and other obligations required in absentia installations for Secretary Tom Owens, Co-Treasurer JoAnn Samson, Membership Chairman Boyd Harper, Lion Tamer Wendell Samson, and Tail Twister Harold Walker.

Ms. Ebert gave updates on state and international events—and in keeping with the Clubs’ eyesight mission—announced that the new WVU Eye Institute is scheduled to open in fall 2027 in Morgantown.

DG Ebert presented milestone chevrons to Susie Eddie for 35 years of service, and to Luther Cope for ten.
The next events for the Putnam County Lions Club will be White Cane Day fundraisers in Winfield on June 20, and Teays Valley on June 27.
