CLARINDA BEATRICE ‘BEA’ ADKINS
Clarinda Beatrice “Bea” Adkins, 80, of Poca, passed away on Monday, November 25, 2024, at home with her family beside her.
She was born in Kanawha County to the late John and Winnie Lovejoy Lunsford. She was preceded in death by her husband, Johnny M.S. Adkins; daughter Kim Hively; grandson Laramie Adkins; sisters Elizabeth Lunsford, Virginia Adkins, Opal Hartwell, Edith Adkins, Shirley Kees, Linda Scarberry, Lucy Shomper, and Rhoda Hensley; and brothers Amos, Andy, Bobby, James, and Donald Lunsford.
In her early years she worked at A&W Root beer, 35 Diner, and 17th Restaurant, but her most important role was being a wife, mother, and maw maw. One of her main goals was to make sure no one did without anything they needed.
Surviving are her loving daughter Omazell (Rob) Keeler of Poca; son John (Kim) Adkins of Poca; nieces who were raised as sisters Bonnie Domina and Ellen Scarberry; grandchildren Star, Priscilla, David “Bub”, and their mother Saddie Herdman, Lacinda, Heather, Chasity (Devin), Hayden, Steven (Taylor), Samantha (John), Tara, Elsie (Phillip), Travis (Lexi), Trevor, and Suzanne Curry; son-in-law Jerry Hively; nephew Brian Shomper and great grandchildren Serenity, Oliva, Carleigh, Garrett, Oakley, and Skylar.
Bea felt so much peace and comfort when she could stay at their cabin in Braxton County. There are so many nieces and nephew, family and friends who have provided us with support, and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
A tribute to the life of Bea was held Saturday, November 30, 2024, at Gatens-Harding Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Delbert Hawley officiating. Burial was in Gibson Cemetery, Scott Depot.

MYRTLE LEE BOGGESS
On Wednesday, November 27th, 2024, Myrtle Lee Boggess, 89, of Eleanor, celebrated her homecoming surrounded by her family. She was a 1953 graduate of Buffalo High School. Myrtle loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and was a member of Faith Christian Fellowship in Buffalo. She was a devoted mother who dedicated her life to loving and supporting her family. To all who knew Myrtle, her life stands as a testimony to the goodness of God, his faithfulness, and a godly example for all to follow.
Born January 27th, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Dean and Vernie Allen. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, James L. Boggess; daughters, Rhonda J. Jividen and Lori J. Waugh; companion, William “Bill” Smith; six brothers and five sisters.
Myrtle is survived by her son, William (Missy) Boggess of Buffalo; daughter, LeeAnn (Stoner) Burkhammer of Poca; son, Paul (Andy) Boggess of Buffalo; 11 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild. She is also survived by one sister, Linda (John) Harris of Eleanor, many loving nieces, nephews, extended family, friends, and church family.
Funeral service to celebrate the life of Myrtle Lee Boggess was held Saturday, November 30th, 2024, at Raynes Funeral Home in Eleanor with Pastor Paul Boggess officiating. Burial was in Beech Grove Cemetery in Eleanor.

SHIRLEY A. DAILEY
Shirley Dailey, of Bancroft, beloved wife, mother, grandmother (mama), great grandmother, devout Christian and friend to many, was called to be with the Lord on December 1, 2024 at the age of 78. She is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Jack Dailey, daughter Missy Foster (Mike), son Jack Dailey Jr, grandsons Shane and Jacob Foster (Lyndsee) and great granddaughter Izzy Foster.
Shirley was a member of Elizabeth Baptist Church. She loved the outdoors, playing cards, sports cars, and cooking for her family. Her laughter, caring nature, hard work, and unconditional love for her community and church will be greatly missed. Her light will continue to shine bright in our hearts forever.
A tribute to the life of Shirley Dailey was held Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at Gatens-Harding Funeral Home Chapel with Jaycob Phillips officiating. Burial was in Haven of Rest Memory Gardens, Red House.

Franklin Elswick
Franklin D Elswick, 89, of Hurricane, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 30, 2024. He was a good Christian man and died peacefully at home with his family by his side. He was a retired truck driver for Kroger after 20 years of service. Dee enjoyed the outdoors, cutting firewood, tractors and spending time with his family. He will be sadly missed and loved by those left behind.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Nash and Slyvia Elswick, brothers, Nash Elswick Jr. and Robert Elswick, sister, Shelvia Elswick, son, Timothy Knight, grandson, Jason Cunningham. Son-in-laws Cliff Cunningham and Phillip Stanley and mother-in-law Virginia Bailey
He is survived by his wife of 44 years Rosemary Bailey Elswick, daughters, Sherry Minks (Eric) of St. Louis MO., Joanie Cunningham of Hurricane, and Susan Stanley of North Carolina, sons, Frankie Elswick (Patricia) of California, John Nash Elswick (Donna) of Hurricane, 13 Grandchildren, and many great grandchildren and extended family.
Funeral service was Thursday, December 5, 2024, at Allen Funeral Home with Pastor Bryan Matthews officiating, Burial was in Valley View Memorial Park. His grandsons served as pallbearers.

Charles David Johnson
Charles David “Bubby” Johnson, 45, of Hurricane, passed away Sunday, November 24, 2024, at CAMC General Hospital, Charleston, following complications from abdominal surgery.
Bubby was born in Charleston on November 17, 1979. He was the grandson of the late Theodore Stanley and Thelma June Elswick Johnson. He was a 1998 graduate of DuPont High School. After a career of being a proud coal miner, he founded his own company, CK Contracting LLC. He loved wrestling and was an avid hunter and gun collector. Bubby was a loving husband and father and will be missed by his family and all who knew him.
Along with his grandparents, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, Ricky Cravens.
Bubby is survived by his loving wife, Kelli Miller Johnson; daughter, Madisyn “Princess” Johnson (Brandon Mullins); sons, Nathan and Colton Johnson, all of Hurricane; mom, Tammy Cravens-Boggs and stepfather, Todd Boggs of Cross Lanes; father, David Elmore of Augusta, Georgia; brother, Richard “Spud” Cravens (Nikki) of Poca; half-brother, Matt Elmore (Daphne) of Augusta, Georgia; stepsisters, Lindsay Pennington (Allen) and Brooke Johnikin, all of Augusta, Georgia, Alyssa, Celina and Michele; special loving aunt and uncle, Elizabeth and Tommy Cremeans of Charleston, aunt, Tracy McClure (Jamie) of Beckley; uncles, Teddy Johnson (Brenda) of Charleston and Chuck Miller of Hurricane; father and mother-in-law, Mike and Paula Miller of Hurricane; brother-in-law, Michael Miller (Sarah) of St. Albans; and several nieces, nephews and cousins; and his beloved dog, Remington.
Funeral service was Friday, November 29, at Stevens & Grass Funeral Home, Malden, with Pastor Harold Richards officiating. At Bubby’s request, cremation will be honored.

Dixie L. Pack
Dixie L. Pack, a beloved wife, mother, nana, and friend to many, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on November 30, 2024.
Dixie was a lady in the true sense of the word. Her beauty was timeless and her style impeccable. Dixie’s warm presence, spunky nature, caring heart, fun-loving spirit left an indelible mark on all who knew her. Dixie’s love for her family and friends was unparalleled, and she often expressed this through the time she spent with them, the care she provided, and the joy she found in life’s pleasures and traditions. She was always up for a game of cards and her chocolate pie was legendary.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Eloise Kidd; sister, Joy Crutchfield; and daughter, Billie Nicole Pack.
Dixie is survived by the love of her life, her husband of 56 years, Bill; her children: Jeff (Kim) Pack, B. Candice (Patrick) Shea, and Chad (Ashley) Pack. She is also survived by her adored grandchildren: Morgan, Abby, Alex, Noah, Megan, and Lauren; and her great-granddaughters: Nora, and soon-to-arrive, Oaklynn. She also leaves her loving memories with other family members, and friends, who were more like family.
As we say goodbye to our wife, mom, and Nana, we are determined to celebrate the life of a woman who was a beacon of kindness and love. Her legacy is one of unwavering devotion to her family, a testament to the beautiful life she lived, and the countless lives she touched. Her memory will be treasured forever, as we hold her close in our hearts and remember the light she brought into this world.
A Celebration of Life will be planned at a date to be determined.
