Obituaries for Week of August 21

ZELDA BARRETT
Zelda Marie Pate Barrett, 74, of Hurricane, passed away peacefully at the Hubbard Hospice House in Charleston on August 16, 2025 from complications associated with Alzheimer’s disease.
Born in South Charleston, Zelda was the youngest daughter of the late Floyd and Mae Pate. She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband, Donald “Donnie” Barrett of Hurricane, and brothers Harland, Marcel, Kenneth, and Dana Glen.
Zelda was a 1969 honor graduate of Hurricane High School. After high school, Zelda faithfully served her nation in the forensic identification division of the Federal Bureau of Investigation in Washington, D.C. In 1972, she married the love of her life, Donald “Donnie” Barrett of Hurricane. Together, they shared 15 wonderful years of marriage before Donnie passed away in 1987. Zelda then reentered the workforce and later retired from US Food Service in Hurricane.
Zelda was a loving sister to her best friend/older sister, Sue Plumley. She was the cherished mother of George Barrett (Mendy) of Hurricane. She was the proud grandmother of Ethan Barrett (Hannah) of Monroeville, PA and Emma Barrett (Aaron Parker) of Hurricane. She was also blessed with several nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews with specific affection for her niece, Charlotte Plumley Caldwell.
She was a longtime member of Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church. Zelda enjoyed volunteering at church gatherings where she served faithfully and selflessly.
Visitation will be held at Allen Funeral Home on Saturday, August 23, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., followed by funeral service and entombment at Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church at 1:00 p.m.

WILLIAM ‘BOB’ HARRIS
William Robert “Bob” Harris, Jr., 73, of Winfield, passed away on August 14, 2025 at home surrounded by his family.
He was born April 1, 1952 to the late Elizabeth and William Harris Sr. in South Charleston. In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his step-son, Brian Whiteside, and sister, Linda Harris.
He had a kind, generous thoughtful soul and loved his family, especially the grandchildren. He also loved to garden, cook, and was very creative in the kitchen.
Bob is survived by his loving wife, Terry; step-children: Joshua Martin of Charleston, Elizabeth Foley (Owen) of Hull, MA, and Elizabeth Toney (Billy) of Hurricane; 6 grandchildren; brothers: John Harris (Marcia) and Kenneth Harris, both of Scott Depot; and special nephews: Larry, Tim and Dusty Harris.
A Memorial Service for Bob will be 5:00 pm Sunday, August 24, 2025, at Chapman Funeral Home, Hurricane, with Pastor Joshua Sowards officiating.

AUDREY HARVEY
Audrey Fay Harvey, 84, of Culloden, passed away August 15, 2025. She was born in Man to the late Edgar and Sylvia Lawrence. She enjoyed gardening and tending to her flowers, cooking, and loved spending time with her family and dogs.
She was preceded in death by husband Herman “Sonny” Harvey; brothers, Freddie, Edgar Jr., William “Jackie”, Michael and Jerry Dale Lawrence; sisters, Mary Joann White, Madeline Gallo, Bonnie Harden, Donna Marie Lawrence.
She is survived by her daughter, Rhonda Peyton, Granddaughter, Tiffany Spry, Brothers Jesse Lawrence, Tommy Lawrence, Jimmy Lawrence, Billy Lawrence; Sister, Priscilla Lawrence and a host of family and friends.
Visitation was held Sunday, August 17, 2025, at Allen Funeral Home. Burial was in Valley View Memorial Park.

MARY ANN LACY
Mary Ann Lacy, 55, of Poca, passed away on August 16, 2025, at the Hubbard Hospice House.
She was born January 2, 1970, in Hampton, VA, to the late George Edward and Ruby Ann Berbohm. She was also preceded in death by her son, Warren Allen Lacy, Jr.
Mary Ann was a graduate of Winfield High School. She enjoyed shopping, going out to eat, and taking adventures with her kids. Above all, she was a loving and devoted mother who will be remembered for her generous heart and the joy she brought to her family.
She is survived by her daughter, Chelsea (Jordan) Williams; two sisters; one brother; and a host of nieces and nephews.
A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.

TONY SETLIFF
Tony Frank Setliff Sr., 69, of Hurricane, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, after an extended illness. He retired from the City of Hurricane and was a graduate of Hurricane High School, class of 1974; a member of Hurricane Bible Church and loved hunting, fishing, farming, and spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Ola Mae Setliff, and a several siblings
He is survived by his wife Donna Setliff, and children, Tony Setliff Jr (Mary), Kala Ronk (Clifford), David Setliff, Grandchildren, Josie and Sue Ellen Ronk and Chelsea Grace Setliff. great niece Sierra Johnson that he was like a pawpaw to and several other nieces and nephews and several pets.
Tony always said Old Men take a walk and go to a Happy Place.
Funeral service was Sunday, August 17, 2025, at Allen Funeral Home with Pastor Steve Sowards officiating.

WAYNE TUCKER
Wayne Tucker, 65, of Hurricane, went to the Lord on August 13, 2025. The son of the late Elmer and Willma Tucker.
He was employed for 30 years at Cummings Collection and retired from the John Henson Center. Wayne enjoyed playing poker, Hunting, fishing and playing with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Donna Tucker and his children, Brenda, Annetta, Rosanna, Chris, Anthony, Jake, Casey and Darrell; 24 Grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren; Brothers, William and Steve and Sisters Sheila and Faye.
Funeral service was Saturday, August 16, 2025, at Allen Funeral Home with Pastor Chris Venoy officiating. Burial was in Peach Ridge Community Cemetery.
