BONITA DELAINE BOGLE
Bonita D. Perry Bogle, 82, of Scott Depot, passed away on October 8, 2025 at Hubbard Hospice House in Charleston.
She was born to the late Bill and Mildred Perry on May 5, 1943. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Charles Bogle.
Bonnie is survived by her children: Brad (Kim) Bogle, Travis Bogle and Kara Davis; grandchildren: Krystell, Hunter, Nichole and Bryce; step grandchildren: Tyler and Chase; and her sister: Brenda (Jim) Thomas; as well as other family members.
Graveside service for Bonnie was Saturday, October 11, 2025, at Mount Vernon Cemetery, Hurricane.
JOHN ‘JB’ HAYES
John “JB” Hayes, 82, of Hurricane, went Home to be with the Lord on October 6, 2025.
He was born on September 7, 1943, to the late Jasper and Abby Hayes in Mason County. In addition to his parents, JB was also preceded in death by his loving wife, Dotty; daughters: Teresa Hayes, Ruth Hayes, and Sherri McClanahan; sisters: Maxine Putnam, Marie Gillispie, Ruth Bays, and Mary Lou Wallace; brothers: Junie, Ernie and Garland “Peanut” Hayes.
He is survived by his son: JG Hayes (Jacklyn Forren); grandchildren: Andrea and Tyler Johnson, Autumn and Tony Alvarez, Nathan Burnette, Noah and Shaela Burnette, Drew and Cassie Burnette, Tyler Hayes, Jr. McClanahan, Megan and Anthony Mynes, Aalaya Bailey-Williamson, Heather Nester, and Tyler Call; 25 great-grandchildren, along with many other extended family and friends.
Funeral service for JB was Monday, October 13, 2025, at Chapman Funeral Home, Hurricane. Burial was in Valley View Memorial Park, Hurricane.
BILLY JOE MCGHEE
Billy Joe McGhee, of Hurricane, passed away on October 9, 2025, at home surrounded by his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Frank and Helen McGhee; and brother, Michael L McGhee.
Billy proudly served his country with the United States Air Force and worked with International Union of Elevator Constructors.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn McGhee; children: Wendi O’Dell (Craig), Billy J. McGhee (Jodie) and Michael David McGhee (Lisa); sisters: Barbara Templeton and Sharon Thomas; sister in-law, Kathy McGhee; seven grandchildren: Chase, Ally, Corbin, Ben, Madison, Mason and Hayden; eight great grandchildren: Uriah, Laine, Maura, Avery, Cam, Mack, Judd and Saylor.
He had a wonderful life and accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior 20 years ago! He is with our Savior Now. He will be so missed!!
There will be no services at this time.
GEORGE R. MCKNIGHT JR.
George R. McKnight Jr. 67, of Hurricane, passed away on October 11, 2025 at home.
He was born to the late George R. and Nadine George McKnight on March 31, 1958 in Logan. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brother, Johnny McKnight.
George was employed by Reynold’s America as a Territory Manager and a member of Teays Valley Baptist Church.
He is survived by his loving wife, Patricia A. Bess McKnight; stepson: Michael (Kimberly) Barbour of Buffalo, NY and their children: Sydney, Sebastian, and Annabell; stepdaughter: Christy (David) Wolfe of Hurricane, and their children: Preston, Colin, Caroline, and Abigail; and stepdaughter: Jennifer (Eric) Beuhring of Hurricane, and their children: Luke, Katelyn, Macie and Nicholas; aunts, uncles, cousins and several other family members.
Funeral Service for George will be 12:00 noon, Saturday, October 18, 2025, at Teays Valley Baptist Church, Hurricane, with Rev. Dr. John D. Smith officiating. Burial will follow in White Chapel Memorial Gardens Barboursville.
CHESTER FRANKLIN RUTAN
Chester Franklin Rutan, 88, of Red House, passed away October 10, 2025.
Chester is retired from Kaiser Aluminum and former member of the Ravenswood Police and Fire Department.
He is preceded in death by his parents John and Ruby Rutan and sons Robert and Fred.
He is survived by his companion and caregiver Mary Cutlip; three children Cindy (Mark) Crocket, James Rutan, and Richard (Barbara) Rutan and a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren.
At his request there will be no services. Burial was in Beech Grove Cemetery, Eleanor.
JIMMY L. SCOTT
Jimmy L. Scott, 95, of Liberty, passed away on October 11, 2025.
Jimmy was retired from Union Carbide and was a proud U.S. Army Veteran, having served his country during the Korean Conflict. A dedicated member of the NRA, he found great joy in working on his farm and living a simple, hardworking life close to the land he loved.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ambrose and Violet Scott; grandson, Justin Wandling; sisters, Madeline Dean, Norma Curry, Katherine Adkins, and Ruby Scott; and brother, Opie Scott.
Jimmy is survived by his devoted wife of 72 years, Kathryn Scott; daughter, Cindy (David) Wandling; sister, Mona Faye Booth; grandson, Jason Wandling; and two great-grandchildren, Kelly and Adan.
Private services will be held, and Jimmy will be laid to rest in Haven of Rest Memory Gardens, Red House, with Pastor Woody Willard officiating.
ROY EDWARD SNYDER, SR.
Roy Edward Snyder, Sr. 86, of Poca, passed away on October 12, 2025, at Cabell Huntington Hospital.
Roy retired from Guardian Glass, where he dedicated many years of hard work and commitment. He was an avid outdoorsman who found joy in hunting, fishing, and spending time surrounded by nature.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Myrtle Snyder; sons, David, Dennis, and Roy E. Snyder, Jr.; brothers, Allen, Russell, and Donald, Jr.; and sister, Barbara.
Roy is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Doloris Snyder; two children, Marsha Snyder and Donald Ray Snyder; brothers, Pete and Samuel Snyder; and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will forever cherish his memory.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
CHARLES STEPHENS
Charles Ray Stephens, age 85, passed away on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at Brown Memorial Hospital, Circleville, Ohio. Charles was born in Hometown, West Virginia, on September 29, 1940. Preceded in death were his parents, Stanley and Letha Stephens; siblings Harold, Mildred, Lorene, Ralph and David; and the love of his life, companion of nearly 40 years, Mary Swartz.
He is survived by his son, Michael Scott Stephens, his grandsons Michael Junior and Jared, and granddaughter, Chelsie. He is also survived by his dear sister, Mary Purdy, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and closest friends.
A graveside service was held on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at the Haven of Rest Memorial Gardens, Red House.
CHARLES DAVID VANNATTER, SR.
Charles David “Dave” Vannatter, Sr., 84 of Scott Depot, went home to be with the Lord on October 7, 2025, at the Hubbard Hospice House.
Dave was a retired Maintenance Supervisor at John Amos Power Plant with over 30 years of dedicated service. A faithful member of Teays Valley Church of the Nazarene, he was known for his steady spirit, humble heart, and love for family and faith.
He found joy in woodworking, model trains, jigsaw puzzles, and working in his yard—but his greatest joy came from spending time with his grandchildren, who lovingly knew him as “Papaw.”
He was preceded in death by his parents, Tom and Lillian Vannatter; sister, Kay; and brother, Rodney.
Dave is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Dru Vannatter; four children, Charles Vannatter, Jr., Angela (Leslie) Byrnside, Thomas (Kerry) Vannatter, and Stefany (Mat) Kitchen; sister, Patricia Stewart; eight grandchildren, Anthony (Jessica) Byrnside, Erica (Paul) Keefer, Christian Vannatter, Drusilla Kitchen, Lewis Kitchen, Alexandra Kitchen, Aaron Kitchen, and Jessyka (Javon) Andrews; and five great-grandchildren, Savannah Byrnside, Luke Byrnside, Abigail Byrnside, Brielle Andrews, and Lincoln Andrews.
A tribute to the life of Dave was held Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at Teays Valley Church of the Nazarene with Pastors Charles Williams and Delbert Hawley officiating. Burial was in Haven of Rest Memory Gardens.
Billy W. Webb
Billy W. Webb, of Liberty, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 8, 2025.
Billy was a devoted husband, loving father, and cherished “Poppy.” He lived his life grounded in faith, family, and kindness, always ready to lend a helping hand or share a word of encouragement. His quiet strength and gentle spirit touched the hearts of everyone who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hiram and Arnie Webb; brothers Harold, James, Kenneth, and Arbie; and sister Arlene.
Left to treasure his memory is his loving wife of 54 years, Sharon Webb; five beloved children, Yuvette Brown, Nisa (Glen) Erwin, Billy (Angie) Webb II, Brian Webb, and Heather (Brian) Larue; fourteen grandchildren who adored their Poppy, JT, Jalen, Brittany, Hayden, Malachi, Maggie, Taylor, Madison, Brody, Alyssa, BJ, Brianna, Olivia, and Kelsea; and three great-grandchildren who brought him so much joy, Kenzleigh, Kaleigha, and Iris. He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and many dear friends.
Billy’s legacy is one of love, faith, and devotion. He will be remembered for his unwavering care for his family, his strong work ethic, and the light he brought into every room. Though he is gone from our sight, the warmth of his presence will remain forever in our hearts.
