Members of Cub Scout Pack 236 led the Pledge of Allegiance during the opening ceremony.
Tuesday, November 11, was a special day for veterans attending Hurricane’s annual Veterans Appreciation Dinner at Hurricane High School.
Upon arrival at the school, vets were greeted by members of Cub Scout Pack 236 who presented them with gifts and custom-made “Thank You” cards. Hurricane Mayor Scott Edwards served as director of the opening ceremony as the Scouts posted Colors and led the Pledge of Allegiance.
The Hurricane High Cheerleaders showered veterans with attention by supplying beverage refills and filling dessert requests.
The free meal included a choice of pork or chicken prepared by L&R BBQ with sauce, slaw, and accompanying sides.
Hurricane’s Veterans Appreciation Dinner began as an annual event sponsored by Putnam County Bank and the City of Hurricane in 2018. The event is much more than a free mail for those who have served in the United States Military. It is a time for veterans to gather, enjoy comradeship, and be honored.
