DAVID BREEDLOVE
David Joey Breedlove, 74, of Hurricane, went home to be with his Lord January 12, 2026 from a long illness. Joey was a member of Liberty Baptist Church in Milton. He was a master electrician for over 40 years in the coal industry.
He is survived by his wife Star Breedlove of Hurricane; Sons, Steve Breedlove of Griffithsville, and David Breedlove of Hurricane; and Daughter, Leslie Saul of Yawkee; Sisters, Pat Holley and Cindy Saul of Alkol. He also had many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Memorial service will be at Liberty Baptist Church, 2469 Yates Crossing Road, Milton, at 1:00 p.m. on January 24, 2026.

RODGER DALE FLOWERS
Rodger “Dale” Flowers, 57, passed away peacefully on January 14, 2026, surrounded by loved ones. His passing came far too soon, and the suddenness of his illness has left family and friends heartbroken.
Born on October 18, 1968, in Roanoke, Virginia, Dale lived a life marked by kindness, quiet strength, and a deep devotion to the people he loved. He was never happier than when he was near the water. Fishing wasn’t just a hobby for him — it was his place of calm, where the quiet mornings, the steady cast of a line, and the easy conversations with those beside him felt like home.
Dale is survived by his wife, Teresa; his son, Ferron Wade; his parents: Roger and Nancy Flowers; and his sisters: Rebecca (Gary) Miller and Tosha (Brett) Weddle. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews: Kristian (Gabi) Miller, MacKenzie (Lucas) Sullivan, Sam Weddle, Jack Weddle; great nephews: Levi Miller, Landon Sullivan; mother in law, Jane Huey; sister-in-law, Tracy Thacker; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Woodrow and Margaret Flowers and Herman and Gladys Hartman.

VIRGINIA ‘WEESIE’ LOUISE KERWOOD
Virginia “Weesie” Louise Kerwood 68, of Hurricane, passed away peacefully on January 15, 2026, following an extended illness.
Born on December 3, 1958, Weesie was the daughter of the late Sidney Marvin Powell and Virginia Louise “Jenny” Powell. After her biological father’s passing, her mother remarried, and Weesie was lovingly raised by her parents, Harold and Jenny Powell Martin. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her brothers, Sidney M. Powell Jr. and Pat Powell.
Weesie was truly an angel on this earth. She had a heart bigger than most, loved everyone she met, and never knew a stranger. Her kindness, warmth, and genuine care for others left a lasting impact on all who were blessed to know her, and it is safe to say that everyone who knew Weesie loved her right back.
She was a proud graduate of Hurricane High School and devoted many years of her life to serving others as a special needs teacher’s assistant. She especially cherished her time working at Winfield High School, where her patience, compassion, and gentle spirit touched countless students and coworkers alike. Weesie found great purpose in helping others and did so with grace and love.
Family meant everything to Weesie. She loved spending time with her loved ones, cooking meals to share, and making sure everyone felt welcome and cared for. She and her husband enjoyed bowling together and spent many years participating in different bowling leagues, creating lasting friendships along the way. Her home, and her heart, were always open.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Gary D. Kerwood; her son, Earin Kerwood (Ashley) of Hurricane; her daughter, Brittany Coleman (Steve) of Charleston; her grandchildren: Jenny Martin (Dario), Earin “Bub” Kerwood (Gianna), Zane Kerwood, Malachi Kerwood, Lilly Bright, Brantley Bright, and Kassidy Bright; and her great-grandchildren: Ja’Kai Toole and Dario Martin II. She is also survived by her brother, C.W. Powell of Hurricane, along with many close friends and the many children she lovingly welcomed into her life along the way. Graveside service was held at Staten Chapel Church Cemetery in Milton.

JOHN F. KING
John F. King, 61, of Leon, passed away January 13, 2026, at home with his loving wife by his side.
John was born December 13, 1964, in Summersville, West Virginia. He was a former construction worker in Kenosha, Wisconsin. John enjoyed camping, spending time with his children and grandchildren, and cheering on the Kansas City Chiefs.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Nancy King, and his sister, Janie Moore.
John is survived by his loving wife, Sandy King; his father, Pete King; his children, Megan (Jose) Rosario, Matt King, Carl Waddle, and Connor Waddle; his sister, Ina Moore; and his two cherished grandchildren, Joselyn and A.J. Rosario.
At his request, there will be no services.

PEGGY LYNN MCCLANAHAN
Peggy Lynn McClanahan, 73, of Okeechobee, Florida, unexpectedly received her wings on January 14, 2026, to be with our Heavenly Father.
She was born July 14, 1952, in St. Albans, WV, to the late Lemuel Wesley and Audrey Ercyl (Womack) McClanahan. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Gary McClanahan and Larry McClanahan.
Peggy was an angel in life as her light, love, and compassion shined to everyone she met. She took care of everyone. She was an incredibly strong lady throughout her life.
Peggy was a wonderful wife, mommy, mamaw, and sister. She was full of love for her family and friends. She was an incredibly creative artist. She was “the best cooker ever,” and nothing compares to her love.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 31 years, James E. Dixon; daughter and best friend, Diana Cordell (Rob Wilkinson); grandson, Colton Cordell; granddaughter, Jessica Wilkinson; sister, Susan Clemens; step-daughter, Carolyn Dixon; special nephew, Jason “Buck” McClanahan; special niece, Jeannie Hodge; April “Thumper” Hayes; Angel McClanahan; Gary Lee McClanahan; and her four-legged baby, Luca.
A tribute to the life of Peggy will be 1:00 PM Saturday, January 24, 2026, at Gatens-Harding Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Goff-McClanahan Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the funeral home.

ROBERT LARRY MIDKIFF
Robert Larry Midkiff, 84, of Milton, passed away peacefully on January 16, 2026.
Larry was born on May 2, 1941, to Howard and Thelma Midkiff. He was a graduate of Milton High School and served the community of Milton for many years through his vast talents; auto body, auto parts, saddle shop, wrecker service, volunteer fire department, and upholstery work.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Janet Childers Midkiff; son, Darren Midkiff; and brother, Wayne Midkiff.
He is survived by his daughter, Dee Harner (Ed); brother, Jack (Avona); granddaughter Tabatha Cooper (Andy); 2 great grandchildren, Reagan and Tyson; and a wonderful group of friends for whom the family is forever grateful.
Receiving of friends will be Saturday, January 24, at 10:00 a.m. at Allen Funeral Home, Hurricane. A private memorial service will follow at 12:00 p.m.

BRENDA LOUISE JONES PRIM
Brenda Louise Jones Prim, 78, of Scott Depot, passed away peacefully at home on January 11, 2026.
She was born on November 24, 1947, to the late Rev. Hearl Jones, Jr. and Betty Louise Wills Jones in Fairmont. In addition to her parents, Brenda was also preceded in death by her brother, Gary Jones; her sister, Linda Jones; and her beloved furbaby, Wolfie.
She was a 1965 graduate of Doddridge County High School and went on to earn her Associate Degree in Nursing from Fairmont State College in 1967. Brenda proudly worked for three decades as a labor and delivery nurse at hospitals in West Virginia and Ohio. She was a member of the West Virginia Order of the Eastern Star Chapter #56 in West Union.
She was skilled at needlepointing, a talented cook, and famously known for correctly answering nearly every question on episodes of Jeopardy. She possessed an unmatched wit and sense of humor, along with a deep love for all animals. Above all, Brenda adored her family—especially her grandchildren, who lovingly knew her as “Grammie B.”
Left to cherish her memory are her devoted husband, Dale Wayne Prim; her children: Scott Kisner (Malissa) of Petersburg, WV, Heather Hocking (Gary) of China Grove, NC, Amanda Morrison (Jason) of Anderson, SC, Brian Prim (Mary) of Hurricane, WV, and Mark Prim (Kristen) of Winfield, WV; and beloved her grandchildren: Colin Kisner, Ashley Kisner, Ethan Walker, Madison Walker, Gavin Holden, and Grace Holden. She is also survived by her special friends and caregivers: Lisa Cunningham and Tammy Rice, as well as her furbabies: Callie and Wylie.
A Celebration of Life and details will be announced a later date.
