Putnam Sheriff Adds Honorary Deputy

Mattix’s patrol car is fully equipped with flashing lights and a loud speaker.

Mattix Snedegar was diagnosed with brain cancer when he was four months old. Now a three-year-old, he has undergone brain surgery and chemotherapy.

On Tuesday, November 15, his favorite game of playing policeman became real as Sheriff Bobbie Eggleton administered the Honorary Deputy Sheriff’s Oath. Mattix repeated the words, “I promise to be a good deputy and help people.”

In addition to becoming an Honorary Deputy Sheriff, Mattix was equipped with his own patrol car, stuffed German shepherd, a special certificate and a set of handcuffs, all complements of the Make-A-Wish Foundation. He immediately put the handcuffs to use by arresting the Grinch. The Grinch cannot steal Christmas 2022.
