Community Calendar for Week of June 1

SATURDAYS THROUGH OCTOBER 28
The Putnam County Farmers Market will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the field beside Exxon/Arby’s on Route 34 in Teays Valley.

MONDAYS IN JUNE AND JULY
Food trucks will be coming to Hurricane’s Main Street from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

JUNE 1
The Eleanor Pool opens for the season. Hours are 12:30 to 6 p.m. Admission is $5 for ages 6 and up. Under 5 get in free.

JUNE 2
The Nitro Antique Car Club will be hosting a cruise-in starting at 5 p.m. at the Living Memorial Park, 21st Street and 2nd Avenue, Nitro.
Fitness Friday: There will be a hike at 10 a.m. at the Norman & Esther Walter Nature Park at 75 Wilkie Road, Red House Hill.
Business Before Breakfast will be held from 7:30 to 9 p.m. at the Wingate by Wyndham hotel in Hurricane.

JUNE 3 – 4
The Putnam County Gun Club Junior Small Bore Rifle Camp for ages 10-20 will be held at the Putnam County Gun Range at the Eleanor Park.

JUNE 3
There will be a free Children’s Ministries Conference from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Faith Christian Fellowship, 54 Krystal Lane, Buffalo. For more information or to register, call 304-654-2112.
T & R Express will be performing at Railways Bar and Grill, 17426 Charleston Road, Buffalo, from 8 to 11 p.m.
The Kanawha River Bass Tournaments will be hosting the 5th regular season tournament from 6 to 2 p.m. at the Nitro Boat Ramp.
The Bancroft Town-Wide Yard Sales will start at 8 a.m. and will be held throughout the town.
Teays Valley Church of the Nazarene will be packing over 5,000 boxes for summer meals for local school children. Volunteers needed; event is from 10 a.m. to noon.

Waves of Fun at Valley Park, Hurricane, will be opening for the season. Tickets are $8 for adults; $6 for children ages 5-11; $6 for seniors and military; free for children 4 and under.

JUNE 5 – 9
Buffalo Church of God Vacation Bible School will be held from 6:30 – 8:45 p.m. nightly. It will have a Food Truck Party theme. Bible lessons, singing, crafts, snacks, and activities for ages toddler – middle school.
Open Door Bible Church, 6711 State Route 34 S, Culloden, will be holding Twists and Turns Vacation Bible School from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. nightly.
Sycamore Independent Missionary Baptist Church, Sycamore Creek Road, Hurricane will be holding Proclamation Safari Park VBS from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

JUNE 5
The Winfield Nazarene Church, 10822 Winfield Road, will be holding an American Red Cross blood drive from 1 to 6 p.m.

JUNE 6
There will be a K-9 demonstration by the Putnam County Sheriff’s Department at 10 a.m. at the Poca Library.

JUNE 7 – 10
The Hurricane Fire Department Carnival will be held at the Hurricane High School.

JUNE 8, 15

Dig Into Geology at the Putnam County Main Library with geologist Joe Norris at 10 a.m. All ages welcome.

JUNE 9 – 10
The Winfield Watersports Weekend will be held at the Winfield Boat Launch Ramp. For a list of events, go to the Appalachian Boarding Company on Facebook.

JUNE 9
Fitness Friday: Line Dancing at Hurricane Bridge Park. Come to the pickeball courts at the new Hurricane park on Midland Trail for line dancing at 10 a.m.
There will be a foam dance party for children ages 7-14 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Foam Garage, 2716 Putnam Avenue, Hurricane. The cost is $10 per child.

JUNE 10
The Poca Football 1st Annual Car Show will be held at the high school. Registration is from 9 a.m. to noon; awards at 2 p.m.
The Winfield Nazarene Church, 10822 Winfield Road, will be holding a food pantry from 9 a.m. until noon.
