Charles and Teresa Swann Harless
In 1988, The Centennial History of Hurricane, WV was published to commemorate the town’s 100th anniversary. In 1994, the Centennial Committee published a follow up book which included family histories which were not submitted in time for the 1988 Centennial History. This week’s selection is the 46th history from The Centennial History of Hurricane WV Continued — 1994.
TERESA ANN SWANN
Teresa Ann Swann was born August 21, 1961, and has lived all her life in Hurricane. She is the daughter of Joe Franklin Swann, b. February 21, 1933, and Phyllis Ann Rappold Swann, b. December 25, 1935. Teresa is also the granddaughter of C.W. “Pete” Rappold, October 29, 1912 – June 18, 1984, and Ruby Estelle Beckett Rappold, July 12, 1910 – February 6, 1992, of Hurricane and George Clifford Swann, August 24, 1903 – March 28, 1978, and Bessie Cordellia Davis Swann, June 30, 1908 – February 8, 1956, of Milton.
Teresa is a 1979 graduate of Hurricane High School.
Teresa has one brother. Dr. Gary Franklin Swann, June 16, 1956, of Toledo, Ohio, who specializes in OB/GYN. Gary married Sherrie Kim Martin on June 20, 1981. They have one son, Corey Franklin Swann born November 21, 1989.
On November 21, 1987, Teresa married Charles Dewayne “Dink” Harless at the Church of Christ in Hurricane. They were married by L. Duane Glover and Roger D. Lee. Dewayne is the son of Marietta Newton Harless and Charles. R. Harless (formerly of Winfield) also of Hurricane.
Dewayne has a sister and brother-in-Jaw, Gloria D. and Tim Brown and a niece Nikki Rhodes of Jacksonville, Florida, and a sister and brother in-law, Sherrie L. and W. K. Munsey of Winfield.
Teresa and Dewayne have one daughter.
Teresa, a former secretary at Americare Putnam Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, is now a housewife and mother. She enjoys cross stitching, ceramics, reading and shopping, but mostly loves playing with Ashley.
Dewayne is an accountant with the State of West Virginia. He enjoys golfing and running. He is a member of the Great Teays Running Club.
Dewayne, Teresa and Ashley presently live at 3238 Putnam Avenue in Hurricane and are members of the Midway Church of Christ.
