Community Calendar for Week of June 8

SATURDAYS THROUGH OCTOBER 28
The Putnam County Farmers Market will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the field beside Exxon/Arby’s on Route 34 in Teays Valley.

MONDAYS IN JUNE AND JULY
Food trucks will be coming to Hurricane’s Main Street from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

JUNE 7 – 10
The Hurricane Fire Department Carnival will be held at the Hurricane High School.

JUNE 9 – 10
The Winfield Watersports Weekend will be held at the Winfield Boat Launch Ramp. For a list of events, go to the Appalachian Boarding Company on Facebook.

JUNE 9
The Iron Horse Mustang Club will be hosting a Mustangs and Mexican Cruise starting at the Eleanor Piggly Wiggly at 6 p.m. The destination will be the Ranchito Bar and Grill in Huntington.
There will be a community round table for community organizations, churches, non-profits, and companies at 9 a.m. at Area 34, 971 WV Route 34, Teays Valley.
My Messy Dess, Dudding Avenue, will be holding a Father’s Day Craft Class from 10 a.m. to noon. The cost is $5-15.
Fitness Friday: Line Dancing at Hurricane Bridge Park. Come to the pickeball courts at the new Hurricane park on Midland Trail for line dancing at 10 a.m.
There will be a foam dance party for children ages 7-14 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Foam Garage, 2716 Putnam Avenue, Hurricane. The cost is $10 per child.

JUNE 10
Mount Union Church, 19268 Jerry’s Run Road, Pliny, will hold an Outdoor Gospel Sing and Cookout starting at 5 p.m.
The Hometown Apostolic Church, 204 2nd Avenue N, Hometown, will be holding a cornhole tournament starting at 3 p.m.
The Poca Football 1st Annual Car Show will be held at the high school. Registration is from 9 a.m. to noon; awards at 2 p.m.
The Winfield Nazarene Church, 10822 Winfield Road, will be holding a food pantry from 9 a.m. until noon.
There will be an American Girls doll party at 11 a.m. at the Putnam County Main Library.
CAMC Teays Valley Outpatient Center, 3948 Teays Valley Road, Hurricane, will be offering a free sports physicals clinic from 8 a.m. to noon. No appointment needed.

The descendants of Garnett and Elmer Bays will have a reunion at 2 p.m. at Valley Park, Shelter 1, Hurricane.

JUNE 12 – 16
Riverside Baptist Church in Red House will be hosting Treasure Adventure Vacation Bible School from 6 to 8 p.m. nightly.

JUNE 12
The Putnam County Library will be hosting Baby Show Choir at 10 a.m. at the Winfield Park.

JUNE 13
The Great American Petting Farm will be coming to the Eleanor Piggly Wiggly from noon to 7 p.m.
Community Autism Resources & Education Systems- CARES will be holding a summer meet up from 10 a.m. to noon at Valley Park in Hurricane.
The Putnam County Library and the Macholah Ballet presents Books & Ballerinas: Peter Pan at 10 a.m. at Valley Park in Hurricane.

JUNE 14
Allied Waste Sycamore Landfill, 3475 Sycamore Ridge Road, Hurricane, will be accepting the first 520 pounds of residential household trash for free on the second Wednesday of each month from 6:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. For more information, call 304-562-3398.

The Putnam County Mobile Library’s Open House will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Winfield Town Hall.
The Putnam County Chamber’s Business After Hours will be held from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at Celebration Villa, 4000 Outlook Drive, Teays Valley.
The second Night Market will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. at Valley Park in Hurricane. The theme is Country Night.

JUNE 17
Cops N Rodders Classic Car Club will be holding a cruise-in from 5 p.m. until dusk at the Putnam County Bank parking lot in Hurricane (behind McDonalds). For more information, call 304-562-6903.

The Bridge Church, 279 Dairy Road, Poca, will be holding a Bible Conference featuring Shane Willard Ministries, at 7 p.m. nightly.

JUNE 16
Fitness Friday: Mindfulness Walk at the Putnam County Fairgrounds will start at 10 a.m. at the Eleanor pool parking lot.
Game Grove, 495 Putnam Village Drive, will be holding a pre-release event for Magic the Gathering: Lord of the Rings starting at 7 p.m.
