Community Calendar for Week of December 7

NOVEMBER – FEBRUARY
There is a free open gym for 1st through 5th graders every Saturday from to 11 a.m. at ZoneOut Sports, Morris Court, Hurricane.

DECEMBER 7 – 9
Walk Through Bethlehem will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. at Hometown Independent Mission Church, 25 3rd Avenue, Hometown.

DECEMBER 7
The Buffalo High School music department and the Poca High Band will be presenting “A Route 62 Christmas Chapter II.” Doors open at 6 p.m. and concert begins at 6:30 p.m. at the Buffalo High School auditorium.
The Putnam County 4-H holiday craft workshop and cookie baking contest will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Putnam County Technical Center in Eleanor. The price is $5 at the door.
The Putnam County Chamber of Commerce will be hosting Business After Hours with Dow Chemical from 5 to 7 p.m. at Area 34, 971 WV Route 34, Teays Valley.
Social Event Space, 2833 Main Street, Hurricane, will be holding North Pole Theater from 6 to 8 p.m. “Home Alone” will be showing. Tickets are $10.

DECEMBER 8 – 9
Lee’s Studio of Dance, 8325 Winfield Road, Winfield, will be holding a Christmas Haunt at Fear on the Farm from 7 p.m. to midnight. See how monsters “wreck the halls.” The cost is $25 per person. To reserve a spot, call (304) 437-2860.

DECEMBER 8
There will be an ugly sweater coloring party at the Buffalo Library during business hours from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
There will be a Christmas cookie decorating class at 6 p.m. at 1267 Rentals, Route 62, Buffalo. To purchase tickets, go to square.link/u/gZaps4hZ
Mountain State Christian School, 1948 Martin Lane, Culloden, will be holding a Christmas play called “Away From A Manger” at 7 p.m.

DECEMBER 9
The Charleston Lighted Boat Parade will be from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Christmas lights will start at the Patrick Street Bridge and make their way up river. There will be a quick stop at the Elk River, then the boats will continue up river making a turn around at the Capital Complex before returning to the Charleston Levee/Haddad River Front Park.
The Nitro Choral Boosters will be holding bingo games starting at 11 a.m. Doors open at 10 a.m. Tickets are $30 at the door.
Mason Adkins will be performing at Brookse’s Bar and Grill, 13184 Winfield Road, Winfield, at 8 p.m.
Creekside Church, 488 Charleys Creek Road, Culloden, will be hosting Breakfast with Santa from 9 to 11 a.m.
Winfield Nazarene Church, 10822 Winfield Road, will be holding a food pantry from 9 a.m. to noon.
Meet characters from “The Grinch” during Fun in Whoville from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at Social Event Spae, 2833 Main Street, Hurricane.
There will be a free ornament making class at 10 a.m. at My Messy Desk, 188 Dudding Avenue, Hurricane.
The Hurricane Christmas Parade will start at noon.

DECEMBER 10, 17
Cross Lanes United Methodist Church, 5320 Frontier Drive, will be holding a holiday grief workshop at 1 p.m.

DECEMBER 10
There will be a 3.5 mile hike at the Ridenour Park in Nitro starting at 1:30 p.m. Meet up at the gazebo.
Nitro First Presbyterian, 111 21st Street, Nitro, will be holding their children’s Christmas program, “Christmas Light Show,” at 6 p.m.

DECEMBER 11
There will be a free wreath making workshop at 11 a.m. at the Eleanor Armory. Pre-register at PatriotGuardens [email protected] and indicate which workshop you will be attending.
There will be an American Red Cross blood drive from 1 to 6 p.m. at Winfield Nazarene Church, 10822 Winfield Road, Winfield.
Game Grove, located in Putnam Village Shopping Center in Teays Valley, will be hosting a board game night from 6 to 10 p.m.

DECEMBER 12
Buffalo Church of the Nazarene, 25053 Buffalo Road, will be holding their Christmas dinner at 6:30 p.m.
Forrest Burdette Memorial United Methodist Church, 2848 Putnam Avenue, Hurricane, will be holding a free “I Heard the Bells” Christmas concert at 7 p.m.

DECEMBER 13
Allied Waste Sycamore Landfill, 3475 Sycamore Ridge Road, Hurricane, will be accepting the first 520 pounds of residential household trash for free on the second Wednesday of each month from 6:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. For more information, call 304-562-3398.

DECEMBER 14
