Community Calendar for Week of December 14

NOVEMBER – FEBRUARY
There is a free open gym for 1st through 5th graders every Saturday from to 11 a.m. at ZoneOut Sports, Morris Court, Hurricane.

DECEMBER 14
Social Event Space, 2833 Main Street, Hurricane, will be holding North Pole Theater from 6 to 8 p.m. “Elf” will be showing. Tickets are $10.

DECEMBER 15 – 16
Freedom’s Promise Ministries, 19966 Winfield Road, Fraziers Bottom, will be holding their Christmas play, “The Christmas Prodigal,” at 7 p.m. on both nights.

DECEMBER 15
The Putnam County Chamber of Commerce will be hosting a meet-up at 8 a.m. at Area 34, 971 WV Route 34, Teays Valley.
VFW Mountaineer Post 9097, 3836 Teays Valley Road, Hurricane, will be holding a Christmas party starting at 8 p.m.
My Messy Desk, 151 Dudding Avenue, Hurricane, will be holding a craft class for kids at 3 p.m. Projects are generally $5-$10.

DECEMBER 16

Santa and Mrs. Claus will be coming to the Bancroft Community Park from 6 to 8 p.m.
Freedom’s Promise Ministries, 19966 Winfield Road, Fraziers Bottom, will be holding an escape room experience from 3 to 5 p.m. in the fellowship hall.

The Winfield Fire Department’s Christmas Parade will start at 6 p.m. along Route 817 in Winfield. Line up at 5 p.m.
Andy Leftwich and Friends are coming to the Teays Valley Baptist Church at 7 p.m.
Calvary Baptist Church, 3653 Teays Valley Road, Hurricane, will be holding a food pantry at 8:30 a.m.
There will be a workshop on enforcing healthy boundaries in relationships from 9 to 11 a.m. at Zoology Zone Science Center, Valley Park, Hurricane. The cost is $30. RSVP by texting 304-840-9300.
Lee’s Studio of Dance will be holiding their holiday dance recital at 1 p.m. at Valley Park Conference Center in Hurricane. Tickets are $10. Doors open at 1 p.m. For more information, call 304-437-2860.
There will be a movie night starting at 6 p.m. at Zoology Zone Science Center, Valley Park, Hurricane. The movie that will be shown is “The Grinch.”

DECEMBER 17
Cross Lanes United Methodist Church, 5320 Frontier Drive, will be holding a holiday grief workshop at 1 p.m.
The 2023 Mason/Putnam County Community Christmas Cantata will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Buffalo High School Performing Arts Center.
The First Baptist Church of Nitro, 2200 2nd Ave, Nitro, will be holding their children’s play, “The Birth of Jesus,” during the morning worshop services starting at 11 a.m.
Poca High School’s Show Choir, Visual Volume, will be presenting Sounds and Sweets of the Season at 5 p.m. at the high school. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children 4 and up.
Teays Valley Church of God, 185 Connection Point, Scott Depot, will be holding a musical, “Christmas Changes Everything,” starting at 6 p.m.
There will be a Christmas ornament exchange from 5 to 7 p.m. at Valley Park in Hurricane. Bring two ornaments (handmade or store bought) for the exchange.

DECEMBER 18
There will be a board game night from 6 to 10 p.m. at Game Grove, Putnam Village Shopping Center, Teays Valley.

DECEMBER 19
Mission West Virginia Inc., 168 Midland Trail, Suite 1, Hurricane, will be having a holiday open house from 7:30 to 5 p.m. Learn more about foster care and adoption.

DECEMBER 20
Red House Bible Church, 51 Warner Lane, Red House, will be going caroling. Meet up at 6 p.m. at the church.
Experience Christmas at Village in the Valley from 5 to 7 p.m. at Teays Valley Church of the Nazarene. Live nativity, horse drawn carriage rides, horseback rides, petting zoo, Santa Claus, and more.

DECEMBER 24
The Winfield United Methodist Church, 20 Radwin Drive, will be holding a Christmas Cantata at 9:30 a.m.
