Community Calendar for Week of February 29

There will be a shoe drive fundraiser at Valley Park in Hurricane. Collection bins will be available on Mondays & Wednesdays 6:30 PM – 7:00 PM at Valley Park Conference center by the Wave Pool entrance.

FEBRUARY 29 – MARCH 2
Buffalo Church of the Nazarene, 25053 Buffalo Road, will be hosting Three-Ring Circus Adult VBS from 6 to 8 p.m. onThursday through Friday, and 2 – 4 p.m. on Saturday.

Homeschool Adventures: Chemical vs. Physical Changes for grades K-2 will be held from 9 a.m. to 10:15, and grades 6-8 from 1 to 2:15 p.m. at Zoology Zone Science Center, located at Valley Park in Hurricane. Register by going to https://form.jotform.com/240027454896159

MARCH 1- 4
The Kids Consignment Pop Up Shop is coming to Valley Park in Hurricane. Hours are 10 am -7 pm March 1 and 2; noon – 5 p.m. March 3; and 1 – 2 pm on March 4.

MARCH 1
Counselor and minister Peter Ray Cole will be speaking on anxiety from 6 to 9 p.m. at Pine Grove Church of Christ Fellowship Hall, 7389 Teays Valley Road, Scott Depot. This session is geared towards teens and college students.

MARCH 2
There will be a Gospel sing jam session at 5 p.m. at the Buffalo Church of the Nazarene, 25053Buffalo Road.
Relative Obscurity will be performing from 9 p.m. to midnight at Railways Bar and Grill, 17426 Charleston Road, Buffalo.
Sugar Shenanigans candy store, 722 First Avenue South, Suite A, Nitro, will be holding Shenanigans Saturday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Riverside Baptist Church, WV Route 62, Red House, will be holding a 25¢ Yard Sale starting at 8 a.m.
CORE Contracting Solutions LLC, 13128 Winfield Road, Winfield, will be holding their grand opening and mini showroom tour from 2 to 4 p.m.
There will be a comic trade day from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Board Room, behind the Hurricane Walmart.

MARCH 3
Nitro First Presbyterian, 111 21st Street, will be having a soup and sandwich luncheon at noon.
There will be a women’s Bible study on the book of Elijah from 6 to 8 p.m. at Mount Vernon Baptist Church, 2150 Mount Vernon Road, Hurricane.
The Old Time Preachers will be performing at Teays Valley Baptist Church in Hurricane at 6 p.m.
There will be a Meeks Mountain Hike at 1:30 p.m. Meet by the Hurricane Sprayground for a 4 mile hike.

MARCH 4 – 6
Red House Bible Church, 51 Warner Lane, Red House, will be holding their spring revival at 6:30 p.m. nightly. Dinner served at 5:30 p.m. Special speaker Jim Mitchell.

MARCH 6
Appalachian Lassies will be holding a performance and a free traditional Scottish/Irish dance class starting at 5:30 p.m. at the Putnam County Main Library in Teays Valley.

MARCH 7, 9, 10
Community Bridge, 30 Mallory Lane, St. Albans, will be holding an open house from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on March 7; 1 to 3 p.m. on March 9; and 12:30 to 2 p.m. on March 10.

MARCH 7
The Eleanor Events Planning Committee will meet the first Thursday of every month from 5:30pm – 6:30pm. The purpose will be to plan and schedule many events to take place throughout the year.

MARCH 8
Bake My Day, 14 Bank Street, Nitro, will be holding a macaroon making and wine tasting party from 6 to 8 p.m. The cost to attend is $35. For more information, call (304) 651-2584.
The Putnam County Chamber of Commerce will be holding a meet-up from 7:30 to 9 a.m. at Sherwin Williams, 3784 Teays Valley Road, Hurricane.
Social Event Space, 2833 Main Street, Hurricane, will be holding a Market Series from 6 to 9 p.m. Local crafts, food, and business vendors. Live music by Mason Adkins.

MARCH 9
Lone Oak Church of God Mission, 1303 Mclane Pike, Red House, will be holding Drawing From the Well, a ladies’ day, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
There will be a workshop called “Guiding the Heart of the Child” from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at the Zoology Zone Science Center located at Valley Park in Hurricane. The cost is $25 per person.
