Community Calendar for Week of March 21

MARCH 21
The Bridge Church, 279 Dairy Road, Poca, will be holding a free clothing, hot meal, and food pantry event from 5:30 to 8 p.m.
The Putnam County Chamber of Commerce will host Business After Hours from 5 to 7 p.m. at McCoy Academy, 3361 Teays Valley Road, Hurricane.
Children grades K-2nd can learn about potential and kenetic energy at 9 a.m. during Homeschool Adventures at Zoology Zone, Valley Park, Hurricane.There will be a class for 3-5th grade at 11 a.m. and 6-8th grade at 1 p.m.

MARCH 22 – 24
The West Virginia High School Rodeo Association 2024 Mountaineer Stampede will be held at the Winfield Riding Club.

MARCH 22
Hometown Apostolic Church, 204 2nd Ave N, Hometown, will be holding a youth service with guest speaker Bro. Bryson Johnston starting at 7 p.m.
Bancroft Mission, 5936 Charleston Road, Bancroft, will be holding an evening of praise starting at 7 p.m.
The G.L.A.M. Gala will start at 6 p.m. at Valley Park in Hurricane. The theme will be the Golden Age of Hollywood.
There will be a ribbon cutting at 1 p.m. at Teays Valley Auto Service Center, 3824 Teays Valley Road, Hurricane.

MARCH 23
The Kanawha River Bass Tournament first regular season tournament will be held from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Meet up at the Nitro Boat Ramp.
Maximum Velocity Wrestling presents Easter Title Hunt at West Sattes Community Center, 234 Lee Avenue, Nitro. Doors open at 6 p.m.; bell time at 7 p.m. Tickets are $10-15.
Mt. Union Church, 19268 Jerry’s Run Road, Pliny, will be holding their annual breakfast Easter Egg Hunt. Breakfast at 9 a.m.; egg hunt at 11 a.m.
CORE Contracting Solutions LLC, 13128 Winfield Road, Winfield, will be holding an open house from 3 to 5 p.m.
Rustic Roots Plant Co., 57 Crandall Drive, Culloden, will be holding a spring sale starting at noon.
Teays Valley Church of God, 185 Connection Point, Scott Depot, will be holding their Easter extravaganza from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. There will be a variety of egg hunts throughout the event.
Mount Vernon Baptist Church, 2150 Mount Vernon Road, Hurricane, will be holding an Easter egg hunt from noon to 2 p.m.
Forrest Burdette United Methodist Church, 2848 Putnam Avenue in Hurricane, will be holding their spring festival from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

MARCH 24 – 27
Faith Missionary Baptist Church, 701 Maccorckle Avenue SW, St. Albans (Route 60) will be holding a revival with Sunday services at 11 a.m. and 6 p.m.; Sunday school at 9:45 a.m., and Monday through Wednesday services at 7 p.m.

MARCH 24
St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, 2008 20th Street, Nitro, will be holding a Sounds of Spring fundraiser with music, pasta, salad, bread, dessert, and fun starting at 5 p.m.
Buffalo United Methodist Church, 27 High Street, will have a Song & Praise Service beginning at 9:15 a.m. featuring guest singers The Believers.
There will be a weapons based training class at Straight Blast Gym (SBG) Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu & MMA, 467 Winfield Road, St. Albans, from noon to 2 p.m. The cost is $25. For more information, call 304-542-1970.
The First Baptist Chruch of Hurricane, 2635 Main Street, will be holding “Alpha and Omega,” an Easter cantata, at 8:50 a.m. and 3 p.m.

George Washington Elementary and Middle Schools and Buffalo High School music and arts programs will be holding A Night of the Arts in memory of Susan Desmueles at 6:30 p.m. at Buffalo High School.
The Putnam County Republican Women will be meeting at 6 p.m. at the Putnam County Lion’s Club, 4 Second Street, Winfield.
Cub Scout Pack 236 will be holding their annual Blue and Gold Banquet from 6 to 8 p.m. at Forrest Burdette United Methodist Church, Putnam Avenue, Hurricane.
MARCH 26
Learn how to make a solar eclipse projector at 3:30 p.m. at the Eleanor Library.

MARCH 27 – 29
Mt. Union Church, 19268 Jerry’s Run Road, Pliny, will be holding Holy Week Services at 7 p.m. nightly.

MARCH 27 AND 29
Red House Bible Church, 51 Warner Lane, Red House, will be presenting “Journey to the Cross” from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

MARCH 27
The First Baptist Church of Nitro, 2200 2nd Avenue, Nitro, will be holding an Easter cookout starting at 5 p.m.

MARCH 28
The Nitro Church of the Nazarene, 1400 Sattes Circle, Nitro, will be hosting a Passover Seder at 7 p.m. Participants will be escorted in groups of 12 to experience a reenactment of the Last Supper.

MARCH 29 – 31
The Bridge Church, 279 Dairy Road, Poca, will be holding Easter Unity Weekend. Good Friday Communion Service at 6:30 p.m.; Saturday community event 1 to 5 p.m.; Sunday morning services at 10:45 a.m.

MARCH 29 – 30
