STARTING APRIL 25

APRIL 25

  • There will be a plant hanger craft workshop featuring upcycled t-shirts (participant brings their own) from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Poca Library.
  • The Putnam County Republican Executive Committee will be hosting the Lincoln Day Dinner at Sleepy Hollow Golf Club in Hurricane. The doors will open at 6:00 p.m. with programming to begin at 6:30 p.m. Ticket information may be found at www.PutnamWVGOP.com
  • There will be an Earth Week themed home school science class/park cleanup at 10 a.m. at Hurricane City Park. Meet in the field beside the parking lot and help clean up the park.

APRIL 26 – 27

  • The Spring Vintage Market and Vendor Fair will be held at Saving Vintage, 401 Midland Trail, Hurricane. Hours are Friday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

APRIL 26

  • There will be a drop-in contemporary dance class at 6 p.m. and a drop-in hip-hop and line dance class at 7 p.m. at Lee’s Studio of Dance, 8325 Winfield Road, Winfield. The cost is $15 per class.
  • An Evening Under the Stars – Homeschool Middle School and Up Semi-Formal – will be held from 7 to 9:30 p.m. at Social Event Space, 2833 Main Street, Hurricane.   • The WV Pumpkin Spring Festival craft and vendor show will be held on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tickets are $5 at the gate.

  • There will be a ribbon cutting for the Nitro Commons, 722 1st Avenue South, Nitro, at noon. The event runs from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • The Women’s Club of Nitro will be holding a craft show from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 2205 2nd Avenue and 23rd Street, Nitro.
  • Katherine’s Cafe, 4 Bank Street, Nitro, will be holding a hot dog and BBQ fundraiser for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Kanawha River Bass Tournaments will be holding their second regular season tournament from 6:30 to 2 p.m. starting at the Nitro Boat Ramp.
  • The Cow Creek Hi-Strivers 4-H Club will be holding a tack auction at the Eleanor Fire Department (upstairs). Doors open at 4 p.m.; auction begins at 5 p.m.
    The 2024 West Virginia Food Truck Festival will be held from noon to 5 p.m. at the Putnam County Fairgrounds in Eleanor.
  • Christopher Strathman “Stratty” will be performing at 9 p.m. at VFW Post 9097, 3836 Teays Valley Road, Hurricane.

  • The Board Room (located behind the Hurricane Walmart) will be holding their first ever Dungeons and Dragons Ladies Night from 5 to 9 p.m.

  • Good Hope Baptist Church, 1075 Kilgore Creek Road, Milton, will be holding their annual Friends & Family service starting at 10 a.m.
  • The Upper Vandalia Historical Society, Putnam County’s history organization, will be having a geological workshop at 2 p.m. at Bancroft Church of God Mission, 5936 Charleston Rd, Bancroft. Enter in rear of church building.
  • The LEGO Block Party will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. at Social Event Space, 2833 Main Street, Hurricane. This event is geared towards children aged 5 to 12, but LEGO lovers of all ages are welcome.

  • The Appalachian Trainer Face Off will be held at the Winfield Riding Club. This is a yearly event where horse trainers across the USA compete with Adoptable Horses in Appalachia. For more information, go to appalachian trainerfaceoff.com

  • The Eleanor Event Planning Committee will meet at 5:30 p.m. at the Eleanor Town Hall.

  • The Nitro Antique Car Club will be holding a cruise-in from 5 p.m. to dusk at 2nd Avenue, 21st Street, Nitro.
  • There will be a classic car auction starting at 1 p.m. at Capital City Auto Auction, 600 Winfield Road, St. Albans. Preview from 1 to 6 p.m. on May 2.
  • Lee’s Studio of Dance, 8325 Winfield Road, Winfield, will be hosting drop-in dance classes. Contemporary dance at 6 p.m.; ballroom dance at 7 p.m.; and hip hop at 8 p.m. The cost is $15 per class.
  • The Putnam County Chamber of Commerce will be hosting a Business Before Business meet-up from 7:30 to 9 a.m. at Edward Jones Financial Advisor, 996 State Route 34, Hurricane.
  • The Putnam County Library will be hosting a homeschool field day from 2 to 4 p.m. at Valley Park in Hurricane.

  • The Putnam County Farmers Market will be held every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the field next to Exxon on Route 34, Teays Valley.
  • The Country Roads Farmers’ Market will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Valley Park in Hurricane.

  • There will be a spring pop up vendor event from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days at 1267 Rentals LLC, 17588 Charleston Road, Buffalo.

  • Buffalo Church of the Nazarene, 25053 Buffalo Road, will be hosting a Men’s Prayer Breakfast starting at 7:30 a.m.
  • My Little Sunshine Boutique and Beauty, 420 1st Avenue South, Nitro, will be holding their grand opening from noon to 6 p.m.
