PCSWA Opens Recycling Drop-Off Center

Four bins are available for recycled items.

Monday, July 21, was opening day for Putnam County Solid Waste Authority’s new drop-off center. The center features bins for Cardboard, Mixed Paper, and Aluminum Cans. A bin for #1 PET Plastics will be placed in service once the recycling contract is finalized.

The center is located at 1000 Midland Trail in Hurricane, just past the new Hurricane Fire Station. Hours are: Monday, Wednesday & Friday (12PM – 7PM) and the second Saturday of each month (9AM – 1PM). A wood chipper will be available during Saturday hours only, with all chips removed the same day.

The center is the result of a partnership between the City of Hurricane and the Solid Waste Authority and is open to all Putnam County residents.

PCSWA Executive Director Rob Vanater reported a busy first day with 16 vehicles dropping off mixed paper and flattened cardboard in the first four hours of operation. Vanater said, “The center makes it easier than ever to recycle and make Putnam County cleaner and greener!”
