NOW – NOVEMBER 1

  • Fear on the Farm, 8325 Winfield Road, Winfield, is open for the season on Fridays and Saturdays from 7 p.m. to midnight. For more information, call 681-203-3683.

NOW THROUGH THE END OF OCTOBER

  • The Putnam County Farmer’s Market will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the field beside Exxon, across from the Putnam County Library in Teays Valley.
  • The County Roads Farmers’ Market will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Valley Park in Hurricane.

SEPTEMBER 25 – 28

  • Visit everybody’s favorite Square Pumpkin – Spookley – at Gritt’s Fun Farm in Buffalo. The schedule is 5:30 p.m. on Thursday and Friday, and 11:30 a.m., 1:30 and 3:30 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Spookley visits included with general admission ticket.

SEPTEMBER 25

  • There will be flu shots at the Buffalo Library from 10 to 11 a.m.
  • Vandalia Backgammon Club will be holding weekly backgammon games from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Putnam Moose Lodge, located in Putnam Village Shopping Center. Open to the public.
  • The Putnam County Chamber of Commerce will be holding Business After Hours from 5 to 7 p.m. at Pioneer Appalachia Credit Union, 3746 Teays Valley Road, Hurricane. RSVP by calling 304-757-6510.
  • There will be a homeschool science class featuring the WV DEP at 10 a.m. at the red barn at Hurricane City Park.
  • Murder and Merriment Misfits will be presenting a fundraiser for Kennie and Claire Bass from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. at Forrest Burdette Memorial United Methodist Church, 2848 Putnam Avenue, Hurricane. Tickets are $40 for single and $75 for a couple. For tickets, call 304-691-0524.
  • The Putnam County Senior Games will be held from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the John Henson Senior Center, Putnam Avenue, Hurricane. To register, call 304-755-2385.
  • Putnam County Save A Life Day – a free Naloxone giveaway – will be held from noon to 6 p.m. at Bridge Church, 6496 Teays Valley Road, Scott Depot.
  • The monthly Night Market – featuring vendors, food trucks, and local bands – will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. at Valley Park in Hurricane. This month’s theme will be Paws & Claws Night.

SEPTEMBER 26

  • Horseshoe Heaven on Smith Farm, 121 Banjo Lane, Scott Depot, will be hosting a women’s camp from 5 to 8 p.m. For more information, call (304) 421-5733.
  • Game Grove, located in Putnam Village Shopping Center, Teays Valley, will be holding a board game night from 6 to 10:30 p.m.

SEPTEMBER 27

  • There will be a benefit ATV/UTV ride for Amber Crihfield, who was diagnosed with cancer, at 11 a.m. at Liberty Lions Club, 2910 Emma Road, Given. The cost is $20.
  • The Higginbotham Family Reunion will start at noon at Ridenour Park in Nitro.
  • The Poca Fall Festival will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Parade at 11 a.m. Vendors, food trucks, music, wall of honor, petting zoo, inflatables, and more.
  • The Putnam County Library will be at Gritt’s Farm in Eleanor for special story times and read-alongs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Pumpkin House.
  • The Poca High School Class of 1985 reunion will be held at the Eleanor Park.
  • The West Virginia High School Rodeo Association will be holding the Wild and Wonderful Round Up Rodeo at the Winfield Riding Club. The event begins at 7 p.m. Admission is $10.
  • The Spark of Love Foundation and Triple B Eatery presents Food Trucks for Kids from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Sippin’ Suites, 11646 Winfield Road, Winfield. Toys/monetary donations will be collected.
  • Teays Valley Church of God, 185 Connection Point, Scott Depot, will be holding Hay Day from noon to 4 p.m. Explore the church’s 74-acre property and enjoy hayrides, games, hiking, rock climbing, pickleball, disc golf, and more.
  • There will be a community-wide beginning yoga class at 9 a.m. at The Macholah Ballet, 6422 Teays Valley Road, Scott Depot. The cost is $5.
  • Teays Valley Baptist Church, 3926 Teays Valley Road, Hurricane, will be holding their community fall fest from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Magic show, bounce house, games, and more. There will be a community car show from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • There will be a fall harvest craft fair from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the red barn at Hurricane City Park. Over 50 local vendors. Pretty baby contest at noon.
  • The Hoppers will be performing at 6:30 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Hurricane, Main Street, Hurricane.

SEPTEMBER 28

  • HHS Seniors will be holding Redskin Bowl-A-Thon starting at 1 p.m. at Town and Country Lanes in Nitro. Individuals can bowl at $25 per person.
  • The City of Eleanor is hosting a 3 – 4 mile hike at the park. Depart from the swimming pool at 1:30 p.m.
  • There will be a free equine assisted psychotherapy and learning open barn event from 1 to 4 p.m. at Stable Woods, 2388 Peach Ridge Road, Hurricane

SEPTEMBER 30

  • There will be flu shots at the Poca Library from 10 to 11 a.m.
  • There are free line dancing lessons every Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. at Brookse’s Bar and Grill, 13184 Winfield Road, Winfield.
  • Putnam CREW, part of the Putnam County Chamber of Commerce, will be holding a young professionals networking event from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Fireside Grille in Teays Valley.

OCTOBER 2 – 5
The 40th Annual West Virginia Pumpkin Festival will be held at Pumpkin Park in Milton.

OCTOBER 3

  • Putnam Chamber of Commerce will be hosting Business Before Business from 7:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Express Employment Professionals, 600 Prestige Park, Suite B5, Hurricane.
