NOW – NOVEMBER 1

  • Fear on the Farm, 8325 Winfield Road, Winfield, is open for the season on Fridays and Saturdays from 7 p.m. to midnight. For more information, call 681-203-3683.

NOW THROUGH THE END OF OCTOBER

  • The Putnam County Farmer’s Market will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the field beside Exxon, across from the Putnam County Library in Teays Valley.
  • The County Roads Farmers’ Market will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Valley Park in Hurricane.

OCTOBER 16

  • There will be a senior seminar on dementia at 2 p.m. at the Eleanor Library.
  • There will be trunk or treat from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at Celebration Villa of Teays Valley, 4000 Outlook Drive, Hurricane.
  • There will be an evening with Elvis and Sinatra featuring Lee Dean Sings at 6:30 p.m. at Valley Park Conference Center in Hurricane. Sponsored by Federated Republican Women of the Valley.

OCTOBER 17

  • Johnny Compton will be performing at The Hill, 15 Bowles Ridge Road, Red House, from 8 to 11 p.m.
  • Game Grove, located in Putnam Village Shopping Center in Teays Valley, will be holding a board game night from 6 to 10:30 p.m.
  • There will be a sip and paint event at 6 p.m. at Spot Nutrition and Energy, 3475 Teays Valley Road A, Hurricane. To register, call (304) 610-0296.
  • Valley Park in Hurricane will be hosting a community movie night starting at 7 p.m. The movie will be Halloweentown, and will be shown in the courtyard. Bring a lawn chair.
  • Thoroughbred Express, 3111 Teays Valley Road, Hurricane, will be holding trunk or treat from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.
  • There will be a ribbon cutting at 10 a.m. at Compass Aesthetics, 3657 Teays Valley Road, Hurricane.
  • The Wagenfolks VW Club will be holding a Bug Out Cruz-In for VW Bugs from 6 p.m. until dark at the Putnam County Bank parking lot behind McDonalds in Hurricane.

OCTOBER 18 – 19

  • The 51st Annual Rock and Gem Show will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday at the South Charleston Community Center, 601 Jefferson Road, South Charleston. The cost is $5 per person; children 17 and under free.
  • Gritt’s Fun Farm in Buffalo will be holding Aviation Day and First Responders Weekend from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days. First responders and their families may enter the farm for just $8.95 online and $10.95 at the gate. For more information, go to www.grittsfarm.com
  • The West Virginia Horse Network Fun Shows will be held at the Winfield Riding Club.

OCTOBER 18

  • Nitro First Presbyterian Church, 111 21st Street, Nitro, will be holding a quilt sale and exhibition from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • There will be a Rock Branch Area clean up from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event site will be at the front of the Rock Branch Industrial Park.
  • The Buffalo Octoberfest will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Buffalo. Music, food, crafts, pony rides, petting zoo, and more.
  • The Hometown Apostolic Church, 204 2nd Avenue N, Hometown, will be holding their annual cornhole tournament. Registration at 11 a.m.; tournament at noon.
  • Hometown Hootenany will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Hometown Senior Center. Music, cornhole, thrift shop, cakewalk, craft and vendor fair, and more.
  • There will be a clean up day starting at 1 p.m. at Mitchell’s Grove, 10101 Charleston Road, Hometown (formerly Hometown Roadside Park).
  • The Appalachian Championship Wrestling Barnyard Beatdown 5 will start at 8 p.m. at the Winfield Riding Club.
  • The Southern Gospel Music Association of West Virginia will be celebrating the legacy of Harvest Gospel Studios starting at 6 p.m. at Teays Valley Church of the Nazarene, 3941 Teays Valley Road, Hurricane. Featuring Mark Hale and Chuck Lawrence, Gospel Harmony Boys, Brighterside Quartet, and more.
  • The Genesis Teays Valley Fall Festival will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Genesis Health Care, 590 N Poplar Fork Road, Hurricane. Food, crafts, baked goods, tumblers, jewelry, and more.
  • Putnam County Democrat Women’s Club will meet at noon at Sleepy Hollow Golf Club in Hurricane. Luncheon price is $22. RSVP by calling 304-543-2115.
  • The 2nd Annual Hurricane Youth Football League Car Show will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Hurricane Bridge Park, Midland Trail entry.
  • There will be a benefit walk to raise money for Dawson Lucas, a toddler who has been diagnosed with a rare genetic disorder, starting at 9 a.m. at Meeks Mountain Trails, Hurricane City Park.
  • Hurricane First Church of the Nazarene, 358 Route 60, will be holding trunk or treat at 5 p.m.
  • Cops N Rodders Classic Car Club will be holding a cruise-in from 5 p.m. to dusk at the Putnam County Bank parking lot behind the Hurricane McDonalds.

OCTOBER 19

  • Kanawha Trail Club will be holding a hike starting at 1:30 p.m. at Ridenour Lake in Nitro. Meet at the first parking lot after crossing the dam. Four miles of trail with some climbs.
  • Lee’s Studio of Dance Productions and Fear on the Farm, 8325 Winfield Road, Winfield, will be hosting Trunk or Treat from 2 to 4 p.m.
  • Hurricane First Church of the Nazarene, 358 US Route 60, will feature special musical guest Adams Voice at 6 p.m.

OCTOBER 20

  • Local author Don Sager will be signing books at 6 p.m. at the Women’s Club of Nitro, 2205 2nd Avenue and 23rd Street, Nitro.
  • The Board Room, 270 Progress Way, Hurricane, will be holding a special board game night featuring the card game Rebel Princess starting at 6 p.m.

OCTOBER 21

  • Prayer in the Park will be held at 7 p.m. at Shelter 1, Valley Park in Hurricane.
  • The Putnam County Library will be telling spooky campfire tales at 7 p.m. at the courtyard at Valley Park in Hurricane.

OCTOBER 23

  • The Hometown Advantage Career Fair will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Putnam Career and Technical Center in Eleanor.
  • There will be a seminar on advance estate planning at 5:30 p.m.at the Putnam County main Library in Teays Valley.
  • The monthly Night Market – featuring vendors, food trucks, and local bands – will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. at Valley Park in Hurricane. This month’s theme will be Fright Night.

OCTOBER 24

  • Gritts’ Fun Farm in Buffalo will be holding Trick or Treat from 2 to 7 p.m. For more information, go to www.grittsfarm.com
  • Harvest in the Grove will start at 5:30 p.m. at Mitchell’s Grove (formerly known as Hometown Park), 10101 Charleston Road, Red House. Trick or treat, pumpkin carving, costume contest.
