Community Calendar for Week of November 6

NOVEMBER 6

  • There will be a financial aid workshop and FAFSA presentation from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Teays Valley Christian School in Teays Valley.
  • There will be a ribbon cutting for PrimeLending at 5 p.m. at 101 Carriage Way, Suite 104, Hurricane.
  • Fairy Trail Story Time will start at 10 a.m. at Valley Park in Hurricane. Meet at the shelter closest to the Fairy Trail mural.
  • The Pottery Place, 3550 Teays Valley Road Suite 4, Hurricane, will be holding a ceramic Christmas tree event from 6 to 9 p.m. The cost is $60. To reserve a spot, call (304) 931-5077.

  • There will be a pool tournament from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Buffalo Senior Center.

  • The Wagging Tails Chili Cookoff, Smoke On The Water Edition​​​​​ will be held in Nitro.​​ Come out and taste some of the best chili in the region.
  • There will be a crafters’ destash sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, 2008 20th Street, Nitro. Quilters, needle crafters, scrapbookers, card makers, and more will be destashing their craft supplies.
  • Beyond Beauty, 1901 19th Street, Nitro, will be holding an open house from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Once Upon A Time Antique Boutique, 2670 Charleston Road, Poca, will be holding their Christmas open house from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Wade Chapel, 4490 McLane Pike, Red House, will be holding a harvest festival from 5 to 6:45 p.m. Games, face painting, hayrides, food, and more.

  • The City of Nitro will honor veterans with a 5 p.m. ceremony at Memorial Plaza (Bank Street).

  • There will be a workshop on how to make infused herbal vinegars at 1 p.m. at the Eleanor Library.
  • The Putnam County Library will be hosting autumn birdwatching at 10 a.m. at the Winfield Locks in Eleanor.
  • There will be a special singing at 7 p.m. at the Sycamore Missionary Baptist Church, 5832 Sycamore Road, Hurricane.
  • There will be a genealogy meet-up from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Putnam County Main Library in Teays Valley.

  • Oodles, 2825 Main Street, Hurricane, will be holding a Glistening Christmas open house from 4 to 8 p.m. Please bring non-perishable food items for local food pantry for additional door prize tickets.

  • There will be a Facing Hunger food drive from 10 a.m. to noon at Mount Union Church in Pliny.

  • Facing Hunger Foodbank will be holding a mobile food pantry from 11 a.m. to noon at Teays Valley Church of God, 185 Connection Point, Scott Depot.

  • The women of Hurricane First Church of the Nazarene, 358 US Route 60, will be holding a Friendsgiving dinner starting at 4 p.m.
